I have worked as a Sports Information Director (SID) student assistant for UA Athletics Communications since August 2022. I am the secondary contact for the volleyball and softball teams as I assist Nate Sheehan in all media and communications efforts for each sport.
My main responsibility is to assist with media availability for various sporting events, which includes facilitating press conferences and assisting with all in-game media obligations.
In the fall 2022 season, I live tweeted play-by-play during home volleyball matches (16.4k+ followers). For the fall 2023 season, we have changed things up, and I mainly post live match and behind-the-scenes footage on our Instagram story (53.7k+ followers). So far, I have grown our audience by 3000 followers and counting.
Similarly, for the 2022-23 season for softball, I live tweeted play-by-play during home softball games (184.4k+ followers) and updated score graphics. For this upcoming season, we are gearing toward Instagram (216k+ followers) stories, for which I've started by posting behind-the-scenes content.
Apart from volleyball and softball, I assist in event and communication management for football, basketball and gymnastics.
Lastly, I also prepare media materials for UA sporting events, including flip cards, press releases, feature stories, game notes and game stories. I also update team rosters, media guides and statistics and RollTide.com weekly.
