Last spring, I took the PR course, Concepting and Implementation, where my group partners and I held a cycling class to benefit Secret Meals For Hungry Children. Secret Meals is a nonprofit program funded by the Alabama Credit Union to make sure elementary students that face food insecurity are provided with food every weekend during the school year.
Throughout the semester, we planned all aspects of our event, including: securing a venue (Three15 Studio!), getting sponsors and donors to donate to our event (click here to see sponsorship pack), creating deliverables and garnering interest from our target audiences.
“Cycling for Secret Meals: Getting Fit and Fighting Hunger” came into fruition on April 7, 2023, and we raised a total of $2522. Below is our post-event deck, which details our planning process. We contacted sponsors through email and in-person visits to local businesses, used Venmo for a majority of our transactions, had individuals sign up via signup genius and utilized social media connections on and off campus to promote our event. All deliverables (omit the buttons) were paid for by the Alabama Credit Union.
